While your camper may not be the same as someone else’s.
There are a lot of things they have in common, and I want to talk about how you can prepare your camper for when you are getting ready for a camping trip.
The more preparation you do, the smoother your camping trip will be and the fewer problems you will run into.
Make Sure Everything Works
It’s wise to look over everything on the camper before attaching it to your vehicle and taking it down the road for a week-long getaway. You want to catch any problems before they become serious, and you can do that by testing everything in the camper.
Check its electricity, ensure the toilet works, make sure all the compartments and doors open and close without issue and ensure the tires are in good condition. You can make up a checklist of things to examine for each camping trip, and then go through a list a few days before your trip. Giving yourself a few days ahead of the trip gives you time to fix any problems that you may find.
Have Your Camper Serviced
Over use and time your Camper’s brakes will ware & require maintenance, the wheel nuts may loosen from long journeys. It is highly recommended to have a full service conducted before any long trips away to ensure your camper is in the best condition possible.
Servicing your Camper also helps to prolong the life of it by keeping it in top condition as much as possible. This can reduce the likelihood of internal wiring getting damaged or the brakes losing quality as all these are checked during the service.
Stock Your Camper
If your camper has a bathroom, then ensure that toiletries are well stocked. If it has a stove, then make sure the gas tank is full or you have a spare on hand in case you need it & if it has beds, then ensure that there is fresh linen on them and extra linens available if they are needed.
Stock up on trash bags and other supplies that may need to be refilled while you are on holiday. It’s a good idea to bring a little extra of everything, just in case something goes wrong like some of your supplies become damaged.
Clean It Out
You also want to spend some time cleaning the camper. Do a thorough cleaning to ensure that everything looks great, doing this will also ensure it is hygienic.
This not only makes the camper more pleasant to use for those longer excursions, but it also gives you a chance to check for problems, such as holes, signs of wear and other issues that may need to be addressed before you take your holiday.
Get A Second Opinion
It’s also a good idea to have someone else look over your camper for problems. You may be so used to seeing your camper and the way it looks that you don’t notice something amiss. Having a someone give it a short inspection could be just what you need to catch problems that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Fix Problems
If you do find a problem with your camper, then be sure to take care of it before you go out on holiday. It’s better to deal with it at home then while you are on the road or at your campsite.
The sooner you deal with issues your camper has, the less likely it will be that the problems will escalate and ruin your holiday.
